The two-piece valve stem extension not only includes an integrated valve stem extension, but also comes with a housing. The outer shell serves as an outer sleeve, which is fitted onto the inner valve stem extension to protect the movable inner valve stem extension in buried applications. Both types of extensions are usually equipped with support brackets and support plates. They provide secure anchoring points for heavy-duty gear operating mechanisms on butterfly valves or prevent lateral movement of integrated lever handle extensions.
